Social media ban under 16 in Australia

It is complex because sites on the internet are usually available to many countries. They have to comply with the law of each country they are available in. Many US sites have the "cookie notice" because of European laws about it, and even US users have to agree to it to use the site. The law I am discussing is a US one, but if this site is available in the US, then there is a risk if it does not comply, especially since a US minor may sign up for an account here.- Translate

I remember the news saying people under 13 would be ban completely. Also for 13 or 14-16 need parent permission. 16 and above would need to identify themselves (I'm not sure if people need to verify or change their ages on their accounts btw this for Australia not US so may vary). To be honest if they do the verify option the internet would change a lot. chuft the stuff BJ is talking about Dr. D and Chris from Mr. B sending inappropriate messages to minors and also groomed them- Translate

Well the federal bill is here
https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-...bill/1291/text
as I read it, it would affect this website. It would also completely ban accounts for kids under 13, so Possessor would be banned.👍 1- Translate

Yeah, true. I don’t think it will affect this website tho. Since it’s not as massive as Insta, YT and FB- Translate

There is similar legislation pending here in the US. I am wondering if a site like this would be considered "social media." Among other things it is to prevent contact between adults and children.
The thing about age verification online is there is no way to do it while maintaining the user's anonymity. You basically have to identify yourself to prove your age. So even if you think you're too old for it to affect you - it does anyway, because you have to identify yourself to any site you want to use.- Translate

Social media ban under 16 in Australia
People used to play this Eminem song all the time at my school before the phone ban came to play across Australia (ugh… someone needs to get rid of that phone ban it’s annoying. I still can’t believe Australia is going to ban under 16 from using social media next year. Well I won’t be affected since I’m going be a bit to old for that ban)Tags: None- Translate
