I can't remember when I became aware of that song but I want to say it was fairly recently. I can see the mp3 was put on my computer when I built it in 2019 so it was before that, but I don't think it was much before that. I certainly don't think I heard it in the 1990's.

Thinking about it I always thought it came from one of the Buffy soundtracks, but when I looked, it didn't. Then I found this hilarious thread

It's a very pleasant but melancholy song to listen to. Can't believe you haven't heard it long ago.
Then again I always had the stereo on background when I was doing anything. So, I heard a lot
of songs back in the day. From the 80s 90s. Good times. Would love to go back when those that passed
                  were still alive.

Have to say the 80s radio was the best. The early 90s not too bad either. I've probably forgotten some songs through the years.

I generally avoid melancholy music, life can be sad enough. Also songs like that were not being played on the 90's rock stations I recall listening to. They played much more upbeat/hard rock type of songs.

Fade Into You reminds me strongly of Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Door. It sounds like a number of other songs to the point that the first time I heard it, I felt like I had heard it before. And I assumed it has been on Buffy - like the people in that thread.

There were some good songs on the Buffy and Romeo & Juliet soundtracks from that era.

Here's one from Romeo & Juliet you might like.

Knocking on Heaven's Door is bizarre in that YouTube is filled with fakes labeled as being this song, but are actually covers done by other people. I've never had such a hard time finding the real song as I have with this one over the years. So many fakes out there. It's really weird.
