Julianna spends most of the time on the set for LazyTown till the end of December. "Hanna Maja who's the make up artist is teaching me icelandic and I plan to learn it well before I return to the States," says Julianna. "The word "svona" [Means: Like This] was the first thing I learned because my first day Magnús Scheving and Hanna Maja were talking about my costume. They stood in front of me, spreading their hands and kept repeating, like this, this and this and eventually I had to know what the word means.
Julianna has obviously been spending alot of time in the dressing room because she's beginning to understand Icelandic pretty well. "When people ask me now how I'm doing today I say: "Ég er alveg þokkalega hress" [Means: I'm doing fine] says Julianna who isn't sure if the journalist wants to write the newest word that has been added to her vocabulary. "My latest word is rassgat [Means: A55hole]. I keep saying that to my dog because they say it can also mean that he's cute."
The dog did Julianna receive for her birthday in Iceland. "The dogs name is Audrey Hepburn because Audrey is my role model and favorite actress," says Julianna. "My birthday was in may but I didn't want anything particular but I really wanted a dog. My older sister was currently staying here and told me not to make any false hopes. On my birthday my mom and I went out for a dinner with all the co workers in LazyTown and got myself an hamburger which is my favorite. And then Magnús Scheving made a speech and told me that what the group was about to give me had never stepped a foot in the studio. Then I was sure about them giving me a dog."
Although Julianna had a hamburger on her birthday she claims she doesn't eat unhealthy like Siggi Sæti [A.k.a Siggy] in LazyTown. "I occasionally eat candy but mostly I eat something healthy and exercise and dance a lot." but in Iceland Julianna is pleased with the ballet classes she has been attending at Classical Art School.
Alongside being in primary school in the US, Julianna has also attended Professional Performance Art School where she practices acting, singing and dancing but she happened to start her career on Broadway. "I have an agent and got a part in the musical Oklahoma after auditions. I was also in a musical called Gypsy and I enjoy being on stage and TV," and when she was asked about future dreams Julianna is hoping to be in the movies in the future.
It's not unlikely that the dream will come true since schoolmates, friends and family are already watching Julianna on American TV. "I miss my friends a lot but my mom, who's with me here in Iceland has helped me a lot. She supports me at work when I miss everyone at home. They are now watching me on tv and were very excited when LazyTown was premiered. My friends love that show and I've received many e-mails where the express their admiration. They say they practice in front of the tv and dance and stretch."
When Julianna returns home she can expect to be known amongst her coevals but she says she's never aware of people recognizing her in person. "It'll probably be weird coming home but I'm also very excited about that. On menningar nótt [Means: Culture night ..not a tradition elsewhere] I went with Stefán Karl and his family downtown to see the fireworks display. It was fun to see all these fireworks but the kids pointed at Stefán Karl and shouted, Glanni Glæpur ,Glanni Glæpur! [A.k.a Robbie Rotten]. I found that very amusing."
